Da Nang signs cooperation agreement with Dentium Joint Stock Company (South Korea) on hydrogen and fuel cell technology

At the Roundtable Discussion on Vietnam - South Korea economic, trade, and investment cooperation held in Hanoi on the afternoon of April 23, the Da Nang City People's Committee and Dentium Joint Stock Company (South Korea) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) in the field of hydrogen and fuel cell technology in Vietnam.

Prime Minister Le Minh Hung emphasized that the presence of leading corporations and businesses from both countries is a testament to the trust and expectation of opening a new, deep, substantive, and more cohesive development phase between the two economies. Vietnam - South Korea relations are assessed to have moved beyond traditional trade and investment cooperation to enter a more strategic and comprehensive phase, jointly participating in creating new regional and global value chains.

The Vietnamese Government is committed to continuing to improve institutions, reforming administrative procedures, and ensuring a transparent and stable investment environment, aiming for the goal of sustainable mutual development.

Commencement of the overall construction investment project for Lien Chieu Container Port

At the Groundbreaking Ceremony for the overall construction investment project for Lien Chieu Container Port on the morning of April 25, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Tuc requested the investor to implement the project while ensuring safety, quality, and progress; to build a "green port - smart port" model and protect the ecosystem of Lien Chieu Bay. 

Chairman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Mạnh Hung highly appreciated the proactiveness and determination of the Joint Venture of Hateco Group Joint Stock Company - Hateco Seaport Limited Liability Company - APM Terminals B.V. in preparing conditions to implement the project; at the same time, he affirmed that the city will continue to accompany, remove difficulties, and create favorable conditions for the investor.

The project covers an area of more than 172 hectares with a total investment of about 2 billion USD, planned to include 8 container berths with a total length of 2,750m, capable of receiving ships up to 18,000 TEU, and a design capacity of 5.7 million TEU/year. After 3 years of operating Phase 1, it is expected to reach 4 million TEU/year. The port is oriented to develop into a modern logistics ecosystem with multi-modal connectivity.

Da Nang strengthens cooperation in developing Lien Chieu Port and logistics with A.P. Moller Maersk Group

During a working session with Mr. Vincent Clerc, Global CEO of A.P. Moller Maersk Group (Denmark) on the morning of April 25, both sides agreed to promote the progress of the Lien Chieu Port project.

Chairman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Mạnh Hung committed to creating favorable conditions for the investor to operate effectively, while emphasizing the important role of Lien Chieu Port for the city's socio-economic development. Da Nang is focusing on synchronous investment in transportation infrastructure, seaports, and logistics, strengthening connectivity with the airport and economic zones, linked with the goals of sustainable development and environmental protection.

Mr. Vincent Clerc stated that A.P. Moller Maersk Group considers Vietnam a strategic market, currently operating two ports in Vung Tau and Hai Phong, and assessed that Lien Chieu Port has the potential to become a modern logistics center for the Central region. The Group also expressed its desire to expand investment in Da Nang in the fields of logistics, warehousing, supply chain infrastructure, and green transport.

More than 4,000 athletes from 80 countries and territories will attend the Heineken Pickleball World Cup 2026 in Da Nang

At the press conference announcing the Heineken Pickleball World Cup 2026 on the afternoon of April 24, Vice Chairman of the City People's Council and Chairman of the Da Nang Pickleball Federation Tran Phuoc Son emphasized that hosting the tournament is not only an honor but also affirms the city's capacity to organize international sporting events, while contributing to promoting the image of a dynamic and friendly Da Nang, boosting tourism and the sports economy. 

The Da Nang Pickleball Federation is committed to the best preparation to organize a professional, safe, and impressive tournament. 

Mr. Hercilio Cabieses, Executive Director of the Pickleball World Cup, assessed Da Nang as a suitable location, expected to attract more than 4,000 athletes from 80 countries and territories.

The Heineken Pickleball World Cup 2026 is the first time the event is held in Asia, taking place from August 30 to September 6, 2026, at the Tien Son Sports Complex, Tuyen Son Sports Village, and central court clusters of the city. The tournament includes 2 categories, national and individual, with many competition events based on age and skill level.

UNESCO accompanies Da Nang in preserving and promoting heritage values

During a reception for Mr. Jonathan Wallace Baker, UNESCO Representative to Vietnam, on the morning of April 24, Permanent Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Ho Ky Minh shared Da Nang's development orientation and enhancement of regional links. Accordingly, the city plans to implement an urban railway line connecting Da Nang International Airport with Hoi An, Tam Ky, and Chu Lai to improve connectivity, creating a driving force to promote regional socio-economic, cultural, and tourism development.

The Permanent Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee requested UNESCO to continue accompanying and supporting Da Nang in guiding procedures for the restoration project of the Ancient House at No. 68 Tran Phu Street (Hoi An) according to the regulations of the World Heritage Fund; recognizing membership in the UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN) under the name "Hoi An Creative Heritage City"; and supporting the city in hosting the "UNESCO Creative Cities Forum in Southeast Asia."

In addition, the city proposed that UNESCO pay attention to supporting and guiding expertise and procedures to gradually complete the dossier, moving towards the consideration and recognition of the value of the Ngu Hanh Son scenic area.

Highly appreciating the potential for cooperation, Mr. Jonathan Wallace Baker affirmed that UNESCO is ready to accompany Da Nang, continuing to support Hoi An in maintaining its Creative City title, implementing monument restoration work, and consulting on completing the Ngu Hanh Son scenic spot dossier in the coming time.

Da Nang is ready to host the Asian Beach Games

At the meeting with the Olympic Council of Asia, the local Organizing Committee, and the Sanya city government, Vice Chairwoman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Thi Anh Thi discussed the possibility of Da Nang hosting sporting events linked to its beach advantages, including a proposal to organize the World Beach Water Polo Championship in 2027.

With experience in organizing many international sporting events, Da Nang affirmed its professional organizational capacity, meeting international standards; at the same time, it committed to reporting to the Government and the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, actively preparing and coordinating closely with relevant units to meet the requirements of the Olympic Council of Asia.

The Vietnam Sports Delegation participating in ABG6 consists of 90 members, of which Da Nang contributes 2 athletes and 1 coach in the sport of sailing. At the games, Vietnamese sports will compete in 8 events: beach handball, beach wrestling, jujitsu, traditional boat racing, beach swimming, athletics, sailing, and teqball.

Da Nang Ao Dai Festival 2026

The City People's Committee opened the Da Nang Ao Dai Festival 2026 on the evening of April 24 in the Han River area (40–42 Bach Dang). This is the first time it has been organized, aiming to honor and spread the value of the ao dai in contemporary life.

The festival takes place from April 24 to 26, with a series of activities in public spaces along the Han River and connected to the Hoi An ancient town, aiming to preserve and promote the value of the ao dai and build it into an annual cultural activity, contributing to positioning Da Nang as a creative destination rich in identity. 

Within the framework of the festival, the "Ao Dai: Past - Present - Future" display and experience space takes place at the Da Nang Museum, introducing the development journey of the ao dai through historical periods. Outstanding programs include the "Hoi An – Colors of Silk" performance at the Japanese Covered Bridge area, the "Vietnamese Ao Dai - Heritage and Creativity" program at 40 Bach Dang, along with "Da Nang Imprints" parade activities, seminars, and the "Han River Convergence" art show.

Through the festival, the ao dai is widely spread within the community, while simultaneously promoting creativity and the promotion and development of the city's cultural-tourism products.

April 29: Opening of the "Peaceful Fatherland" Gala 

According to the plan, the "Peaceful Fatherland" Gala will open at 20:00 on April 29, 2026, at APEC Park (Hai Chau Ward); exhibition and experience activities will take place from April 30 to May 3, 2026. 

The highlight is the "Journey of Peace" space with 4 display booths about the construction and fighting process of the People's Security forces, cybersecurity assurance work, high-tech crime prevention, and international cooperation. 

Additionally, there is the "Star of Peace – Community Imprint" community activity and the "80 Years of People's Security – Silent Shield" exhibition, combining traditional displays with modern technology.

The main Gala program takes place at 20:00 on May 2, 2026, at the park on the East bank of the Dragon Bridge (An Hai Ward), consisting of three chapters: "Flow of Peace," "Shield of Peace," and "Epic of Peace," closing with a torch-bearing ceremony, passing the fire, and a fireworks display.

April 25: Opening of the 2026 Marine Tourism Season with the theme: "Vibrant Summer”

From April 25, 2026, to May 3, 2026, vibrant activities within the framework of the 2026 Marine Tourism Season program will take place at East Sea Park, Son Tra Peninsula, and the beaches of Phuoc My, My An, My Khe, and Nguyen Tat Thanh.

The opening ceremony will be held at 5:00 PM on April 25, 2026, at East Sea Park.

The program consists of 19 main activities located at East Sea Park, Son Tra Peninsula, and the tourism beaches of Da Nang. The schedule includes 05 new activities: Da Nang Pizza Festival 2026, An experience journey of making ice cream from Vietnamese rice plants, Beach Water Games, Marine sports performances, and the "Son Tra Walking Day". 

There are 14 recurring activities maintained over the years, such as: Artistic Kite performances, the 2026 International Marine Rescue Competition, the 3rd "Conquering Summer Waves" sea swimming competition, the 2nd "Ky Vuong Xu Quang" Chinese chess tournament, and the "Vietnamese Flavors" culinary space. 

During this occasion, a series of attractive coastal entertainment venues like Kalà Kalà Beach Club, The Holiday Beach Club, Malibu Beach Club, and Maia Beach Bar in the My An beach area, as well as Da Nang Mikazuki Japanese Resorts & Spa in the Nguyen Tat Thanh road beach area, are ready to serve visitors. These venues contribute to providing a vibrant, diverse, and attractive experiential space for residents and tourists.

At the local beaches, tourists can easily access amenities such as beach umbrellas and chairs, freshwater showers, parking lots, coastal restaurants and bars, along with experiential services like surfing, SUP paddling, jet skiing, and parasailing.

Additionally, in May, Tam Thanh beach in Quang Phu ward will become lively with the "Sea Flavor Food Festival" taking place from May 22 to May 24, 2026. This festival promises to bring a unique culinary experience space deeply imbued with coastal character.

In July, the "Cua Dai Beach Festival – Summer Emotions" will be organized at Cua Dai beach. This event will feature a series of engaging activities such as marine art performances, beach sports, food festivals, and nighttime entertainment programs.
