April 25, 2026: Commencement of the Overall Investment and Construction Project for Lien Chieu Container Terminal
The People's Committee of the city, in coordination with the Investor Joint Venture of Hateco Group Joint Stock Company – Hateco Seaport Company Limited – APM Terminals B.V., will organize the commencement ceremony for the Overall Investment and Construction Project for Lien Chieu Container Terminal on the morning of April 25, 2026.
Previously, in mid-March 2026, the City People's Committee approved the selection of the Joint Venture consisting of Hateco Group Joint Stock Company - Hateco Seaport Company Limited - APM Terminals B.V. (Netherlands) as the investor for the Overall Investment and Construction Project for Lien Chieu Container Terminal, which has a total capital of over US$1.7 billion.
The Overall Investment and Construction Project for Lien Chieu Container Terminal is a large-scale seaport infrastructure project in the Central region, oriented to become a modern container port, an international transshipment center, and meeting green port standards.
The project is consistent with the Detailed Planning for seaport groups, terminals, wharves, buoy berths, water areas, and water zones for the period 2021–2030, with a vision toward 2050.
The project covers an area of approximately 172.6 hectares, excluding the connecting water areas, ship channels, and shared turning basins within the Lien Chieu terminal area.
The overall design capacity of the project reaches approximately 5.7 million TEUs per year, equivalent to about 74 million tons of cargo per year. Within this, the operational capacity by 2030 is expected to reach 14.25–36.3 million tons per year.

During this occasion, a series of attractive coastal entertainment venues like Kalà Kalà Beach Club, The Holiday Beach Club, Malibu Beach Club, and Maia Beach Bar in the My An beach area, as well as Da Nang Mikazuki Japanese Resorts & Spa in the Nguyen Tat Thanh road beach area, are ready to serve visitors. These venues contribute to providing a vibrant, diverse, and attractive experiential space for residents and tourists.<br />

<p style="text-align: justify;;line-height:30px">The project has a total capital of 2,723 billion VND, to be implemented during the period 2026 – 2031 in 8 communes and wards in the southern area of the city, aiming to enhance disaster adaptation capacity, reduce flooding, improve transport and irrigation infrastructure, and strengthen coastal connectivity.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;;line-height:30px">The project includes dredging work on the Trường Giang River, constructing the Tam Kỳ flood drainage complex, and 7 bridges. <p style="text-align: justify;;line-height:30px">The VNG IRONMAN Vietnam 2026 Multi-Sport Week and VNG IRONMAN 70.3 Danang 2026 has officially kicked off, gathering more than 4,700 athletes from over 90 countries.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;;line-height:30px">This season marks the first time Vietnam will host a full-distance VNG IRONMAN, while also celebrating the 10th season of VNG IRONMAN 70.3 Danang. The event opened on May 10 at East Sea Park.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;;line-height:30px">Athletes will conquer the coastal routes of Danang in a triathlon. For VNG IRONMAN 70.3, the distances include a 1.9 km swim, a 90 km bike ride, and a 21.1 km run; for the full-distance IRONMAN, the competitions consist of a 3.8 km swim, a 180 km bike ride, and a 42.2 km run.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;;line-height:30px">At the bilateral survey at the Tây Giang (Danang) - Ka Lum (Sekong) border gate area on the morning of May 14, Vice Chairman of the City People’s Committee Phan Thái Bình and Chairman of the Sekong Provincial Government Committee Khanty Silavongsath agreed on the policy and coordination plans to prepare the necessary conditions to upgrade the Tây Giang - Ka Lum border gate to a main border gate before 2030.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;;line-height:30px">Both sides conducted a field survey, determining the scope of the border gate area, suitable locations, and coordinates to serve planning purposes, forming the basis for proposing adjustments to the planning and developing the design for the main border gate.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;;line-height:30px">On the afternoon of the same day, the leaders of the two localities co-chaired a meeting and signed a joint coordination plan to implement the roadmap for upgrading the Tây Giang – Ka Lum border gate. Danang assigned the relevant departments and agencies to coordinate and support research on legal procedures, consider the possibility of organizing an International Surfing Competition, while promoting the establishment of a friendship relationship between Da Nang and Wakayama Province (Japan), expanding investment cooperation and promoting the marine tourism image.</span></span></p>
