South Korean Destroyer Kang Gam Chang Visits Da Nang
On the morning of May 5, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee Ho Ky Minh received the Kang Gam Chan destroyer delegation from the South Korean Navy, led by Colonel Kwon Yong Gu, during their visit and working trip to Da Nang.
Vice Chairman Ho Ky Minh welcomed the delegation and provided an overview of the city's socio-economic development, emphasizing South Korea’s important role in the fields of tourism and investment. He also noted that in August 2025, Da Nang plans to collaborate with the South Korean Consulate General to host the 4th Vietnam – Korea Festival, featuring a wide range of cultural, artistic, sports, and technology-related events.
The Vice Chairman affirmed that this visit by the Kang Gam Chan destroyer would contribute to strengthening the friendship and promoting strategic cooperation between the two countries. He expressed hope that Da Nang would become a bridge for naval cooperation between the two nations, particularly in training activities and information exchanges to ensure maritime security.
Colonel Kwon Yong Gu thanked the city leaders and people of Da Nang for their warm reception and expressed his impression of the city’s dynamic, modern, and hospitable development. He hoped there would be more opportunities for exchanges and cooperation between the South Korean and Vietnamese navies, contributing to the strengthening of the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.

On the morning of May 9, nearly 400 delegates attended the seminar "Artificial Intelligence - A New Driving Force for the Development of Da Nang", which was organized by the City People's Committee, aimed at solidifying Resolution 57 of the Politburo and implementing the National Strategy on AI by 2030. This is the first in-depth seminar on AI in Da Nang, aimed at attracting investment and developing AI applications.

With the theme "Decade of Glory – Where Every Finish Line is a New Beginning", the event is expected to attract more than 3,500 athletes from over 70 countries, spreading the spirit of perseverance and global connection. Besides these professional events, the competition also features a short distance for beginners and IRONKIDS for children aged 5 to 15, contributing to the promotion of an active lifestyle and the development of endurance sports for the younger generation.
Illuminate 7 lotus flowers on the Han River during the Buddha's birthday week
On the occasion of the Great Buddha's birthday Vesak Buddhist calendar 2569 – 2025 solar calendar, from the evening of May 5th, seven giant lotus flowers were magnificently illuminated by the Da Nang city of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha on the surface of the Han River, opening the Buddha's birth week in Da Nang.
The lighting of the seven lotus flowers is meant to recreate the image of the seven pure steps of Buddha Shakyamuni at his birth. According to classic references, each of his steps opened a lotus flower, symbolizing the path of enlightenment that leads beings away from suffering and ignorance.
