Groundbreaking ceremony for the expansion of Danang International Passenger Terminal
The Danang International Passenger Terminal Expansion Project (T2) officially commenced with a total investment of nearly 1,500 billion VND.
The project aims to meet the strong growth demand of the international aviation market, enhance operational capacity, increase international connectivity, and drive the development of tourism, commerce, investment, and high-quality services in the city. After the terminal’s expansion, the total area will reach approximately 21,085 square meters; the number of check-in counters will increase from 54 to 85; the number of departure gates with jet bridges will rise from 4 to 7; and the baggage handling system will be upgraded to modern standards.
Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee, Lê Quang Nam, affirmed that the authorities will continue to accompany and facilitate the project to remain on schedule, contributing to realizing the synchronization of developing the aviation, logistics, and tourism ecosystem in the Central region.

Japan proposes to provide surfing training services in Danang
At the working session on the morning of May 18, Mr. Hironori Sakai, Chairman of the Vietnam - Japan Friendship Association, proposed establishing a legal entity in Danang to provide surfing training services and related activities.
Vice Chairwoman of the City People's Committee, Nguyễn Thị Anh Thi, assessed that this is an appropriate orientation in line with the city's strategy for developing marine tourism, water sports, and the environment. Danang assigned the relevant departments and agencies to coordinate and support research on legal procedures, consider the possibility of organizing an International Surfing Competition, while promoting the establishment of a friendship relationship between Da Nang and Wakayama Province (Japan), expanding investment cooperation and promoting the marine tourism image.

Strengthening connectivity and long-term investment cooperation with Japanese enterprises
At the working session with the Delegation of the Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Danang (JCCID) on the morning of May 20, Deputy Chairman of the City People's Committee Trần Chí Cường highly appreciated the role of JCCID in connecting the Japanese business community with the city government, contributing to the creation of an effective and sustainable investment and business environment.
The city requested that JCCID continue to support the promotion of the investment environment, facilitate business connections, and promote investment, trade, and innovation cooperation. In addition, it suggested strengthening cooperation with Japanese businesses in training high-quality human resources in fields such as information technology, semiconductors, automation, and the Japanese language.

Danang Food Tour Festival 2026
The Danang Food Tour Festival 2026 opened at East Sea Park, marking a new step in promoting local culture and identity through cuisine.
On this occasion, the city launched the Danang Culinary Digital Map – ShopeeFood, helping residents and visitors easily explore prominent culinary destinations in the area.
Within the framework of the festival, the Danang Food Tours 2026 series will take place from May to December, connecting Danang city with wards of Hội An, Điện Bàn, Tam Kỳ, and Đại Lộc, expanding the culinary experience journey linked to traditional craft villages, local communities, and Quảng heritage.

According to the “Global Startup Ecosystem Index 2026” report published by StartupBlink, Danang has risen 212 places, reaching 554th in the world, compared to 766th in 2025. Science exhibition “Universe - Humans - Intelligence”
Danang Museum is organizing the science exhibition "Universe - Humanity - Intelligence" (UMI) on the occasion of International Museum Day and Vietnam Science and Technology Day.
The exhibition presents advanced scientific research from Germany through modern, highly interactive displays, focusing on five main themes: the universe, human history, the brain, the Anthropocene, and artificial intelligence.
After Hanoi, Danang is the second stop for the exhibition in Vietnam. The exhibition is open free of charge from May 18 to June 18, 2026, at Danang Museum.

<p style="text-align: justify;;line-height:30px">DIFF 2026's fourth night of competition continued to affirm its appeal with the contest between two representatives from Europe and Asia, namely Steffes-Ollig Feuerwerke GmbH & Co. KG (Germany) and Apple Pyrotechnics Co., Ltd (Macau, China).</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;;line-height:30px">The showdown between the German team and the Macau (China) team was considered an exciting contest between two distinct styles of fireworks. Not only leaving an artistic impression, DIFF 2026 continues to serve as a driving force for the growth of tourism in Danang.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;;line-height:30px">According to statistics, after three nights of competition, accommodation facilities in the city have served more than 326,000 guests, an increase of 36.7% compared to the same period in 2025. Among them, international visitors reached over 136,000, an increase of 33.7%; domestic visitors reached nearly 190,000, an increase of 38.9%.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;;line-height:30px">On June 16 (local time), a delegation from Danang City led by Permanent Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee Nguyễn Đình Vĩnh worked with the Mayor of Genoa City (Italy), Silvia Salis, to promote cooperation in the fields of marine economy, logistics, education, urban planning, and digital transformation. The two sides agreed to develop specific action programs to effectively implement the signed cooperation agreements.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;;line-height:30px">Permanent Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee Nguyễn Đình Vĩnh requested Genoa City to share its experiences in seaport development, logistics, land reclamation technology, and marine sports, while also promoting cooperation between the University of Genoa and the University of Danang in training and scientific research.</p>

<p style="text-align:justify; margin-bottom:11px;line-height:30px"><span style="text-justify:inter-ideograph">Chairman of the City People's Committee Nguyễn Mạnh Hùng emphasized that the investment in Sun Galaxy Complex holds special significance, not only serving the Danang International Fireworks Festival but also creating a modern cultural and entertainment space; supplementing new tourism products, promoting the night-time economy, extending tourists' length of stay, and increasing their spending.
