Promoting Cooperation between Da Nang and Japanese Partners
On the morning of September 15, Vice Chairman of the Da Nang City People's Committee, Tran Chi Cuong, received Senator and Secretary-General of the Japan-Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship Alliance, TSURUHO Yosuke, along with his delegation and the Consul General of Japan in Da Nang, MORI Takero.
During the meeting, the Vice Chairman introduced Da Nang's development potential, including the Free Trade Zone and International Financial Center with their special mechanisms. He also highlighted the city's strengths in infrastructure, human resources, investment environment, and cultural exchange activities with Japan.
The Vice Chairman expressed his hope that Senator TSURUHO Yosuke would continue to act as a bridge to promote cooperation and call on Japanese enterprises to invest in key sectors such as free trade, international finance, information technology, and cybersecurity.
Mr. TSURUHO Yosuke affirmed his agreement, pledging to support exchange activities and connect Japanese businesses for investment in Da Nang's functional zones, especially high-tech, logistics, and digital industries, as well as to share expertise on cybersecurity.

<p style="text-align: justify;;line-height:30px">The Vice Chairman affirmed that the visit holds significant importance in strengthening the friendship and mutual trust between the two sides, in line with the framework of the Vietnam–Japan Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. He also emphasized that the city is ready to facilitate and promote cooperation between the Vietnam Coast Guard and the Japan Coast Guard.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;;line-height:30px">Rear Admiral Takahashi Toru expressed his appreciation for the cooperative relationship between the two countries and expressed the desire to continue enhancing coordination in ensuring maritime security, safety, and search and rescue at sea.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;;line-height:30px">Currently, the city maintains cooperation with six localities in Japan; Japan leads in investment capital with over 1.28 billion USD across 280 projects and is a key tourism market.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;;line-height:30px">On January 19, Vice Chairman of the Đà Nẵng City People's Committee, Hồ Quang Bửu, held a working session with Swiss organizations and partners to promote</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;;line-height:30px">cooperation in the fields of finance and banking, innovation, high-tech healthcare, and human resource training, in line with the orientation of establishing the Vietnam International Financial Center in Đà Nẵng.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;;line-height:30px">In the field of high-tech healthcare, partners from the Swiss Asia Chamber and Singularity Institute proposed cooperation in establishing a research laboratory and setting up a mental health clinic in Đà Nẵng. In addition, they explored the possibility of establishing a law firm operating within the International Financial Center, as well as collaborating to train high-quality legal professionals.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;;line-height:30px">Welcoming these proposals, the Vice Chairman expressed the hope that the Vietnam International Financial Center in Đà Nẵng would become a member of SwissCham ASIA; at the same time, he assigned relevant agencies to soon concretize the cooperation content in February 2026 and proposed collaboration to promote Vietnamese ginseng in the European market.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;;line-height:30px">On January 20, in Switzerland, the Đà Nẵng City delegation, led by Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Hồ Quang Bửu, held meetings with various organizations, enterprises, and international partners in the fields of innovation, high technology, cybersecurity, fintech, blockchain, and digital assets.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;;line-height:30px">In Davos, the delegation met with Yubico, the Lithuanian Crypto Economy Organization, and Lithuania's Web3 to discuss potential collaborations and opportunities in cybersecurity, secure semiconductors, fintech, blockchain, and the development of the digital asset ecosystem, in line with the plan to establish an International Financial Center in Đà Nẵng.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;;line-height:30px">On the same day, the working delegation exchanged international experiences with Coinbase (USA) regarding the development and supervision of the digital asset market, investor protection, anti-money laundering, risk management, and blockchain infrastructure development. On this basis, the delegation proposed that Coinbase provide policy advisory support and research on participating in controlled pilot models (sandbox), in line with the development orientation of the International Financial Center.</p>

This is an annual activity organized by the University to introduce and promote the traditional cultural values of Vietnam to the international student community.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;;line-height:30px">On the afternoon of January 5, Chairman of the City People's Committee Phạm Đức Ấn held a meeting with the Vietnam Cinema Development Promotion Association to discuss the plan for organizing the 4th Đà Nẵng Asia Film Festival (DANAFF IV) in 2026.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;;line-height:30px">According to the plan, DANAFF IV is expected to take place from June 28 to July 4, 2026, with the motto “DANAFF – A Bridge from Asia to the World.” The main activities will include the opening and closing ceremonies (opening and closing ceremonies are not considered part of the main activities for an event), as well as the awards presentation held at the Ariyana International Conference Center; screenings of competitive and non-competitive films; and training, promotion, and networking activities in the field of cinema. In addition, there will be numerous side events such as the DANAFF booths, outdoor film screenings, press interactions, and meetings with domestic and international artists and filmmakers.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;;line-height:30px">This year's film festival focuses on professional activities such as workshops on the film industry, intellectual property, advanced classes with international experts, youth talent programs, film project markets, and screenwriting training.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;;line-height:30px">On the morning of January 8, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee, Hồ Kỳ Minh, presided over a meeting with Ms. Jane Rexworthy, Chair of the UK Skills Partnership (United Kingdom), to discuss skill requirements and human resource development in the field of green finance.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;;line-height:30px">At the meeting, the Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee informed that Đà Nẵng will officially inaugurate the Executive Agency of the International Financial Center on January 9, 2026. In the coming period, the city will focus on consolidating its organizational structure, perfecting operational mechanisms, implementing the "one-stop - single-window" model, while prioritizing the development of fintech, green finance, green transformation, trade finance, and digital assets in accordance with international standards. The Vietnam International Financial Center in Đà Nẵng is oriented to develop based on three pillars: green finance, trade finance, and financial technology – digital assets.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;;line-height:30px">To date, more than 10 investors, including joint ventures from the Middle East, Singapore, and the United States, have expressed interest and a desire to become strategic investors. City leaders agreed to choose this year's theme as “United Horizons – Connecting Horizons,” conveying a message about a dynamic, integrated city that is a destination for cultural exchange, creativity, and international connectivity.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;;line-height:30px">According to the draft plan, DIFF 2026 is expected to take place from May 30 to July 11, 2026, in the Han River Port area. The festival will feature 10 fireworks teams from Vietnam and several countries and territories worldwide, including China, Italy, Germany, Portugal, France, Japan, Macau, and Australia.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;;line-height:30px">The competition nights will be held weekly, with each team performing for 20 to 22 minutes according to the 2026 theme. The prize structure includes a Grand Champion prize worth USD 20,000, a Runner-up will be awarded USD 10,000, and additional awards such as the Most Popular Team, Creative Award, and Promising Award.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;;line-height:30px">In 2026, the program will be implemented under the theme “Đà Nẵng – Elevating the MICE Tourism Experience,” running throughout the year, aiming to welcome and support nearly 93,000 visitors, an increase of approximately 12% compared to 2025. The program emphasizes three notable innovations: expanding the scope of application by adjusting the minimum group size for domestic MICE groups to 70 participants and international groups to 30 participants; for the first time, introducing a policy to honor and express gratitude to outstanding MICE enterprises, associated with specific and practical promotional benefits; and additionally, providing a separate support mechanism for returning groups from their second visit onwards under the designation of “Preferred MICE Partner.”</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;;line-height:30px">In 2025, the Đà Nẵng Vietnam – Laos Friendship Association effectively carried out people-to-people foreign affairs activities, focusing on organizing medical examinations and treatments as well as providing social welfare support in Sekong and Savannakhet provinces.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;;line-height:30px">On the morning of December 23 in Hanoi, the Vietnam Software and IT Services Association (VINASA) held the Announcement and Award Ceremony of the Vietnam Smart City Awards 2025. Đà Nẵng City was once again honored and remarkably received the award for the sixth consecutive year.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;;line-height:30px">In 2025, Đà Nẵng was named in three categories: Smart Governance and Administration; Green Environment – Sustainable Development; and Attractive City for Startup Innovation. The awards received more than 200,000 votes, with Đà Nẵng leading with 163,984 votes, accounting for nearly 70%.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;;line-height:30px">At Đà Nẵng International Airport, flight VN157 from Hanoi carried the first three guests to 'ring in the New Year,' followed by a flight from Manila with five lucky passengers. Within the morning alone, approximately 1,200 tourists from seven countries (South Korea, Thailand, Singapore, etc.) landed, creating a lively atmosphere with the message 'Welcome to Đà Nẵng.'</p>
