National Scientific Workshop on Preserving Dong Duong Buddhist Monastery Heritage

During a meeting on the morning of April 29 to implement plans for the national scientific workshop on preserving and promoting the cultural heritage values of the Dong Duong Buddhist Monastery, Vice Chairwoman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Thi Anh Thi requested that relevant units prepare content thoroughly to ensure scientific quality, progress, and organizational efficiency.

According to the plan, the workshop, titled "Research on Preserving and Promoting the Cultural Heritage Values of Dong Duong Buddhist Monastery," is scheduled for May 15, 2026, in Da Nang. It will feature over 200 delegates from central and local agencies, scientists, and religious organizations.

The scientific content of the workshop has been shaped with the participation of many prestigious experts and scientists. The workshop is an especially meaningful event, through which the city hopes to receive many valuable recommendations and proposals from managers, experts, and scientists in promoting the cultural heritage values of the Dong Duong Buddhist Monastery.

The Da Nang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF) 2026 was voted by the renowned travel magazine Travel + Leisure as one of the top 9 must-experience festivals on the planet. It is the sole representative from Vietnam on this list.

DIFF was praised for its professional scale, world-class pyrotechnic displays synchronized with music, and modern technology. The event is recognized not just as a competition, but as a comprehensive series of festive, artistic, and entertainment activities that enliven Da Nang’s tourism atmosphere.

Being honored in this prestigious ranking further affirms the attraction and brand of DIFF on the global tourism map. At the same time, it demonstrates Da Nang's efforts in developing large-scale event tourism products, enhancing competitiveness, and attracting domestic and international tourists.

April 30 – May 1 Events Programme: Spreading Traditional Values and Energizing Summer Tourism

In celebration of the 51st anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day, and the 140th International Workers' Day, Da Nang organized a series of cultural, sports, and tourism activities, educating on patriotism, and creating a vibrant atmosphere for residents and tourists.

Prominent are tribute activities such as incense offerings and commemorations at martyrs' cemeteries, historical relics, and religious establishments across many localities, demonstrating the ethics of gratitude while fostering a sense of responsibility in building the homeland.

In parallel, the city is organizing a series of large-scale cultural, artistic, and sporting events. The "Da Nang Beach Tourism Season 2026" opening program features many attractive activities; the "Peaceful Fatherland" Gala, along with exhibitions, experiences, and art performances, serves as a highlight to attract a large number of residents and visitors.

Additionally, tourist areas and attractions are simultaneously launching new products combined with incentive programs, contributing to an enhanced experience. This

series of activities not only promotes summer tourism but also contributes to advertising the image of Da Nang as a safe, friendly, and attractive destination.

14 Teams Compete in the 2026 Da Nang International Life-Saving Competition

On the morning of April 30, 14 domestic and international teams competed in the Da Nang International Life-Saving Competition to improve rescue skills and ensure visitor safety.

The competition included 15 events split between the beach at East Sea Park (An Hai Ward) and the high-performance swimming pool (Hoa Cuong Ward).

At the beach, there are 9 events such as: beach sprints, relay swimming, team surf paddling, rescue tube rescues, rescue board relays, flag grabbing, and coracle racing... Meanwhile, 6 events at the pool focus on specialized skills such as: cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), victim towing relays, 10m line throws, line throw relays, and 50m victim carries...

After hours of dramatic competition, the First Prize overall went to the CEBU ONE team (Philippines). The Second Prize overall belonged to the SABAH team (Malaysia), and the Third Prize overall went to the HAMMERHEAD ONE team (Singapore).

AI Technology Tells the Story of Birdsongs

Da Nang is pioneering the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) for birdsong recognition, creating a new approach to biodiversity conservation and community experience.

The "AI Tells Birdsong Stories" model has been deployed through listening stations in natural ecosystems like the Dam River and Cua Garden (Southern Da Nang).

The AI system will record sounds, identify bird species, and provide information regarding their characteristics, behaviors, and habitats, helping residents and tourists gain a deeper understanding of the natural world.

This project is supported by international organizations, including partners from Switzerland, to promote green urban initiatives and sustainable development.
