ASEAN Meeting in Da Nang 2025
On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of Vietnam's admittance to ASEAN (1995 – 2025), the People's Committee of Da Nang City coordinated with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to organize the event "ASEAN Meeting 2025" on the afternoon of April 9.
Emphasizing the role of Da Nang in the process of ASEAN integration with the strengths of modern infrastructure and a favorable investment environment, Chairman of the City People's Committee Le Trung Chinh affirmed that this place is an attractive destination for international events. The city has now established cooperative relations with 9 localities in ASEAN countries, focusing on key areas such as trade, tourism, investment and education.
Trade activities between Da Nang and ASEAN countries have recorded stable growth. Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and the Philippines are currently regular investors in the city. Da Nang is gradually aiming to build a free trade zone, a regional financial center and develop strategic industries such as high technology, artificial intelligence and semiconductors.
The event emphasized the need to promote substantive cooperation models between localities, associations and businesses in the ASEAN bloc. At the same time, the city announced major initiatives such as improving the investment environment, accelerating the construction of Lien Chieu port and expanding flight routes directly connecting the region.
On this occasion, the City People's Committee awarded 10,000 USD along with the City Tourism Association’s 75 million VND in disaster relief to support Myanmar after the earthquake. In addition, representatives of the City Tourism Association signed a cooperation agreement with the Malaysian Tourism Association and the Calabarzon Regional Travel Association (Philippines) to encourage tourism promotion between the parties.

At the meeting with Malaysian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Vietnam Dato' Tan Yang Thai on the morning of April 9, Chairman of the City People's Committee Le Trung Chinh expressed his desire to strengthen cooperation between Da Nang and Malaysia in the fields of tourism, education, culture and investment, especially in connecting businesses, promoting destinations and attracting investment in high-tech parks.
Ambassador Dato' Tan Yang Thai affirmed that he would support tourism and investment promotion between the two sides and said that many Malaysian businesses have positively evaluated the investment environment in Da Nang, especially in the field of high technology and information technology.

Strengthening exchanges and cooperation in trade and tourism investment between Da Nang and Thailand
At the meeting with Ms. Uravvadee Sriphiromya, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Thailand to Vietnam on the afternoon of April 10, Chairman of the City People's Committee Le Trung Chinh emphasized the potential for cooperation between Da Nang and Thailand in the fields of technology, logistics, tourism, etc. thanks to its strategic location on the East-West Economic Corridor and favorable development policies. The city government is committed to supporting and creating favorable conditions for Thai investors and tourists.
Ambassador Uravvadee thanked the city for the exchanges and praised Da Nang's role in ASEAN. The Ambassador proposed that the two sides coordinate to organize a forum to promote investment, promote Thai language teaching and open a direct flight route between Da Nang and Thailand, as well as organize activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Thailand in 2026.

At the meeting of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Cuba to Vietnam Rogelio Polanco Fuentes, Standing Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ho Ky?? Minh City expressed his desire to strengthen cooperation with Cuba in fields such as health, education, science, culture and information technology. The Vice Chairman affirmed that the city would create favorable conditions for Cuban businesses to invest and connect in Da Nang.
Ambassador Rogelio Polanco Fuentes praised the dynamic development of the city and committed to acting as a bridge to promote cooperation between the two sides, especially in training medical personnel, sharing experiences on tourism and strengthening interpersonal exchanges.

At the meeting with Vietnamese Ambassador in Belgium Nguyen Van Thao on the morning of April 5, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Tran Chi Cuong wished to receive attention, coordination and support to promote cooperation between Da Nang and Belgium and the European Union in the fields of trade, investment, science and technology, innovation, culture and tourism.
Ambassador Nguyen Van Thao praised the outstanding achievements of Da Nang and invited city leaders to attend the conference to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-EU relations, scheduled to be held in Belgium in June.
