Danang promotes cooperation with Japan in various fields

At the meeting with the Consul General of Japan in Danang, Mori Takero, on the afternoon of May 13, Chairman of the Danang People’s Committee Nguyễn Mạnh Hùng highly appreciated the cooperative relationship between Danang and Japan in the fields of culture, education, investment, and people-to-people exchanges. In the near future, the city will host the Hội An - Japan Cultural Exchange program and the Vietnam - Japan Festival, contributing to strengthening cooperative relations between Danang and Japanese localities and partners.

In addition, the Chairman of the City People’s Committee hopes that Japan will continue to support areas such as high-tech agriculture, education, healthcare, innovation, human resource development, and infrastructure in the mountainous regions.

Consul General Mori Takero expressed a desire to restore the Japanese language training program in the Liên Chiểu area as in the past. The Chairman of the City People’s Committee agreed in principle and also suggested that the training should not only be structured, but also linked to career orientation and employment opportunities for students.

HMCS Charlottetown of the Royal Canadian Navy makes a friendly visit to Danang city

On the afternoon of May 15, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the City People's Committee Nguyễn Mạnh Hùng received a courtesy visit from the delegation of the Royal Canadian Navy led by Angus Topshee.

The Chairman of the City People's Committee affirmed that the visit holds significant importance in strengthening the friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Canada, particularly in the fields of defense and naval affairs. He also stated that Danang is ready to facilitate expanded cooperation, training, and experience sharing between the Vietnam Navy and the Canadian Navy, contributing to ensuring maritime security and safety.

Vice Admiral Angus Topshee expressed his pleasure that both sides have engaged in many practical cooperative and exchange activities. The visit of HMCS Charlottetown not only contributes to enhancing Vietnam–Canada defense cooperation but also provides the delegation with the opportunity to learn about the culture, people, and dynamic development of Danang.

The Royal Canadian Navy ship HMCS Charlottetown docked at Tiên Sa Port and began its friendly visit to Danang from May 15 to 18 as part of Operation HORIZON, contributing to promoting Canada's cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region.

During the stay in Danang, the delegation will pay courtesy visits to the city leadership, the 5th Military Region Command, and the 3rd Naval Region Command; participate in professional and sports exchanges with the Vietnam Navy, engage in exchanges at the University of Danang, and visit the Center for Support of Victims of Agent Orange and disadvantaged children in the city.

Danang – Se Kong signs a coordination agreement to upgrade the Tây Giang – Ka Lum border gate to a main border gate before 2030

At the bilateral survey at the Tây Giang (Danang) - Ka Lum (Sekong) border gate area on the morning of May 14, Vice Chairman of the City People’s Committee Phan Thái Bình and Chairman of the Sekong Provincial Government Committee Khanty Silavongsath agreed on the policy and coordination plans to prepare the necessary conditions to upgrade the Tây Giang - Ka Lum border gate to a main border gate before 2030.

Both sides conducted a field survey, determining the scope of the border gate area, suitable locations, and coordinates to serve planning purposes, forming the basis for proposing adjustments to the planning and developing the design for the main border gate.

On the afternoon of the same day, the leaders of the two localities co-chaired a meeting and signed a joint coordination plan to implement the roadmap for upgrading the Tây Giang – Ka Lum border gate. According to the plan, by May 2026, the dossier determining the scope of the border gate area will be completed; from June 2026 to June 2027, relevant planning will be finalized; in the 2027-2029 period, investment will focus on transportation infrastructure and works in the border gate area; in the first quarter of 2030, the governments of the two countries will be presented with a proposal to consider upgrading it to a main border gate.

The Vietnam-China Friendship Association of Danang city organizes personnel restructuring

The 4th Conference of the Executive Committee for the 2024 - 2029 term unanimously decided to elect additional members of the Party Committee, Deputy Chairwoman of the City People’s Committee Nguyễn Thị Anh Thi, to join the Executive Committee, the Standing Committee, and to hold the position of Chairwoman of the Vietnam - China Friendship Association of Danang City for the 2024 - 2029 term.

After the reorganization, the Executive Committee of the Vietnam - China Friendship Association of the city for the 2024 - 2029 term consists of 18 members.

Danang and Hitachi exchange cooperation orientation on AI and smart cities

On the afternoon of May 15, Vice Chairman of the Danang City People's Committee Hồ Quang Bửu and leaders of Hitachi Digital Services Vietnam Co., Ltd. discussed the strategic cooperation direction in the fields of artificial intelligence (AI), smart cities, and digital transformation. At the same time, they explored the possibility of establishing long-term cooperation programs to help enhance technological capabilities, attract high-quality investment, and develop AI human resources for Da Nang city.

Hitachi Digital Services Vietnam Co., Ltd. (Hitachi DSVN) is a member company of the Hitachi Group. In Da Nang, the company has a branch at Phi Long Building, 52 Nguyễn Văn Linh, Hải Châu Ward.

Danang marks its presence on the international sports map

At the VNG IRONMAN Vietnam 2026 and VNG IRONMAN 70.3 Danang 2026 Awards Ceremony, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism presented awards to athletes who achieved outstanding results in each category, while also announcing the list of athletes who earned the right to participate in international competitions.

This season left a strong impression in terms of organizational scale, sportsmanship, and community values. Danang's being selected by the global IRONMAN Organization to host the event is a source of pride for the city and helps affirm its position as a leading destination for international cultural, sports, and tourism events in the Asia-Pacific region. Approximately 5,000 athletes, along with their family members, stayed and visited the city during the event.

“Igniting” the opening night of the Danang International Fireworks Festival 2026

The Danang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF) 2026 will open on May 30 with the theme "Nature," marking the start of the competition between the Danang International Fireworks Team and Jiangxi Yangfeng Art Display Co., Ltd (China).

In addition to the fireworks displays, the opening night of DIFF 2026 will also be an "artistic feast," featuring performances by singers Hồ Ngọc Hà, Hoàng Hải, Hà Nhi, Nguyễn Trần Trung Quân, nearly 70 Vietnamese dancers, and more than 30 international artists from Sun World Ba Na Hills.

At the review meeting on the preparation work for organizing DIFF 2026 held on the afternoon of May 13, Vice Chairwoman of the City People's Committee Nguyễn Thị Anh Thi requested that members of the Organizing Committee enhance their responsibility, actively and proactively coordinate with relevant agencies, units, and localities to ensure that the activities at the Festival take place safely and in a civilized manner, without errors or delays. In particular, attention should be paid to ensuring absolute safety in terms of security and order, traffic safety, fire prevention and fighting, rescue operations, environmental sanitation, and food safety.

According to the most current report, the basic operations have been on schedule, meeting the required standards, especially regarding the construction of the grandstand, stage, firing area, fireworks import procedures, promotion and media activities, as well as the development of plans to ensure security and order, traffic safety, fire prevention and fighting, and logistical support for the participating teams.

The 22nd Hội An – Japan Cultural Exchange Event takes place from May 22 to 24

The 22nd Hội An - Japan Cultural Exchange Event, Danang 2026, will take place from May 22 to 24 in the Hội An Ancient Town. The opening ceremony will be held at 7:30 PM on May 22 at An Hội Sculpture Garden, with the participation of numerous Vietnamese and Japanese art troupes.

The highlight of the event is a series of continuous activities throughout the ancient town, such as street art exchanges, the reenactment of the “Procession of Princess Ngọc Hoa and Merchant Araki Sotaro,” an exhibition of traditional Japanese dolls, calligraphy and Ikebana demonstrations, performances of traditional and contemporary arts, along with a Cosplay contest and many cultural experience activities.

Additionally, exhibition spaces displaying Hội An - Japan cultural exchanges, the tour program “Remnants of Japan,” introductions to Japanese cuisine, tourism, and characteristic cultural products will also be organized, contributing to a lively festival atmosphere.
