The International Finance Corporation (IFC) shared the contents of the proposal for building an International Financial Center in Da Nang
On April 17, at a meeting with representatives of the International Finance Corporation (IFC), Jinchang Lai discussed the strategy for developing The Da Nang Financial Center, Standing Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee said that the Center will apply Common Law, use English and resolve disputes by international law and court rulings.
Da Nang Financial Center will specialize in non-banking financial institutions, prioritizing the fields of payment, financial leasing, green financial services, fintech, and sandbox testing for digital assets. It is expected that the resolution will be submitted to the National Assembly in the May session.
Mr. Jinchang Lai (IFC) proposed to position Da Nang as a center of financial and technological services, with requirements for a quality business environment, an open legal framework, a reliable judicial system, highly specialized human resources, and synchronous infrastructure.
Strengthening cooperation with the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC)
On the morning of April 15 at the meeting with Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) on the orientation of investment cooperation, Standing Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ho Ky Minh City highly appreciated the role of JBIC and hoped that this agency would continue to accompany and introduce Japanese enterprises to invest in fields such as high technology, microchips, free trade zones and financial centers.
The Vice Chairman proposed that JBIC support investment in industrial clusters in the free trade zone, the liquified natural gas factory in Hoa Ninh Industrial Park, and the Da Nang – Hoi An – Tam Ky – Chu Lai urban railway project. At the same time, he invited JBIC to attend the upcoming Da Nang International Financial Center Investment Forum.
Representative of JBIC, Ms. Sakuma Kazuko, affirmed that she will continue to support Da Nang in attracting investment and promoting sustainable cooperation between the two sides.
Exchange information and experiences in the formation and development of the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone (China)
At the delegation meeting of the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone Research Center (China) on the afternoon of April 16, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Tran Chi Cuong discussed the detailed policies that have just been approved by the National Assembly and the Politburo, allowing Da Nang to establish a Free Trade Zone and a Regional Financial Center. This is an important platform for the city to attract strategic investors in the fields of high technology, semiconductor chips, artificial intelligence, and innovative creation.
Da Nang Free Trade Zone is situated to develop according to a multi-point model, connecting Lien Chieu port and Da Nang International Airport, with a scale of more than 2,000 hectares. The Vice Chairman expressed his desire to strengthen cooperation with the Shenzhen Center in research, learning experience in building and developing effective special economic zone models.
Representative of the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone Research Center, Professor Dao Nhat Dao, expressed his views on the development of Da Nang and affirmed that the visit was aimed at surveying investment opportunities and exchanging experiences in the development of special economic zones, especially Shenzhen's successful model. In addition, the delegation shared practical lessons on planning, breakthrough policy mechanisms, and effective management methods of strategic investors from the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone model.

From April 20 to 27: Da Nang Reading Culture Festival 2025
From April 20 to 27, 2025, Da Nang City People's Committee will organize the Da Nang Reading Culture Festival 2025 at Apec Park and the Bach Dang Pedestrian Street with the theme "Reading Culture - Community Connection". The festival aims to spread the spirit of loving books, build a positive reading environment, and celebrate the 4th Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day. The opening ceremony will take place at 5 p.m. on April 22, 2025.
The festival includes many rich activities, including book exhibitions, technology experiences, calligraphy art, exchanges, seminars, storytelling contests, character costumes, etc., with the participation of large publishing companies. There is also a program to donate books, issue free library cards, and consult library utilities.
