Opening ceremony of the new school year 2026-2027

On the morning of September 5th, amidst the lively atmosphere of the 'National Festival of Taking Children to School' across the country, public schools in the city held opening ceremonies for the 2026-2027 academic year.

From the plains, coastal areas, midlands, to the border regions, the ceremonies were conducted in a solemn, joyful, and enthusiastic atmosphere.

In six border communes, more than 4,600 students began the new school year at newly completed primary and lower secondary boarding schools. Putting these schools into use demonstrates the attention and prioritization of resources for education in border areas, contributing to improved learning and living conditions and creating a favorable environment for students to attend school with peace of mind.

U.S. team wins the championship, Vietnam takes the runner-up at the 2026 Heineken Pickleball World Cup

Taking place from August 30 to September 6 in Danang, the Heineken Pickleball World Cup 2026 brought together nearly 5,000 athletes from 81 countries and territories. This is the first time the Pickleball World Cup has been held in Asia, making Danang the first Asian city to host the tournament.

At the opening ceremony on the evening of September 2, the Heineken Pickleball World Cup 2026 was recognized by Guinness World Records with two world records, including the tournament with the most athletes representing different countries and territories, and the cup with the highest recorded value.

In addition to the matches, the tournament also featured various activities: International Parade, Pickleball Clinic, Promoters Forum, and World Market with approximately 200 booths, helping to create a space for interaction and connection within the international pickleball community.

On the evening of September 6, the Vietnam team faced the United States team in the final. As a result, the United States team won the championship by defeating the runner-up team,Vietnam, by a score of 4-0.

The Heineken Pickleball World Cup 2026 has contributed to promoting sports activities, tourism, and international exchange, while also enhancing the promotion of Danang's image to the international community.

Strengthening cooperation with UNICEF for children in the new phase 

On the morning of September 4, during a working session with the delegation from the UNICEF Vietnam Representative Office, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Hồ Quang Bửu highly appreciated UNICEF's companionship, especially through the project "Child-Friendly City - Danang City for the 2023-2026 period," with a non-refundable ODA fund of approximately 1.83 million USD.

Danang is committed to closely coordinating with UNICEF to implement effective and sustainable programs, aiming to build a safe environment where all children can be cared for, educated, listened to, and developed comprehensively.

Bustling tourist arrivals in Danang during the National Day holiday on September 2 

From August 29 to the end of September 2, the total number of visitors and tourists to the city is estimated to have exceeded 850,000, an increase of 37% compared to the same period in 2025. Among them, international visitors are estimated at more than 224,000; overnight stays exceeded 275,000, an increase of 36%. Total tourism revenue is estimated at 3,326 billion VND.

During the holiday, Danang organized numerous cultural, artistic, sports, and tourism activities, creating additional products and events for residents and tourists to experience. Notably, there was the Heineken Pickleball World Cup 2026, Hội An Creative Week 2026, the program "Returning to the Sacred Moment" at APEC Park, along with art shows, bài chòi performances, traditional theater, cinema, and beach sports activities.

Visitor numbers were concentrated at accommodation facilities along the coast, in the central area, and in the districts of An Hải, Ngũ Hành Sơn, Hải Châu, Sơn Trà, Hội An, Eastern Hội An and Western Hội An.

Promoting youth participation in sustainable urban development

On the morning of September 4, within the framework of the support program of the Fondation Botnar Fund in Vietnam, the workshop “Youth in Sustainable Urban Development” was held in Danang.

The workshop shared experiences from models and initiatives that promote the role of young people, such as students participating in school activities, children’s councils, youth involvement in local planning, STEM School Tours, innovation, and community development.
