Da Nang and Oregon (USA) Strengthen Ties in Training and Logistics

During a meeting with a delegation from Oregon State (USA) on the morning of April 3, Standing Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Ho Ky Minh identified human resource training as a potential area for cooperation. He expressed a desire for Da Nang and Oregon to continue expanding and deepening their partnership as the city accelerates its integration and modern development.

The city leadership extended a formal invitation to Oregon’s leaders, relevant agencies, and the business community to attend the Finance and Technology Week scheduled for mid-July 2026. This event will feature a series of investment promotion activities, site surveys, and the final night of the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival 2026, alongside various side events.

The Oregon delegation spoke highly of the long-standing cooperative relationship with Da Nang and expressed particular interest in the Lien Chieu Port Project. They also sought to explore partnership opportunities in logistics and freight transportation. Additionally, businesses from the state are actively conducting surveys to assess cooperative potential within the city.

Promoting Cooperation in Green Technology and Semiconductor Chips with Chemnitz (Germany)

On the morning of March 30, during the Da Nang – Chemnitz Government-to-Business Meeting, the two localities exchanged and discussed cooperation opportunities in high technology, semiconductor technology, artificial intelligence, and sustainable development.

The Mayor of Chemnitz, Sven Schulze, spoke highly of Da Nang's development potential. He noted that the two localities share many similarities, creating a favorable foundation for promoting cooperation and attracting investment in the near future.

On behalf of Da Nang, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Ho Quang Buu committed to further improving the investment environment. He pledged to create favorable conditions for German enterprises to implement long-term cooperation, contributing to elevating the relationship between the two localities.

Da Nang city leadership expressed a desire for the two localities to enhance their partnership in several key areas, including vocational training and encouraging Chemnitz businesses to transfer solutions regarding smart cities, IoT, Robotics, semiconductor chips, artificial intelligence, and green technology to Da Nang. Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Trần Chí Cường Receives Australian Navy Ship Commander for Courtesy Visit

On the morning of March 30, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Tran Chi Cuong received a delegation of officers and sailors from the Australian Navy, led by Commander Alicia Harrison of the HMAS Toowoomba. During the meeting, Vice Chairman Tran Chi Cuong welcomed the delegation and provided a general overview of the city's socio-economic development, as well as the results of cooperation between Da Nang and Australian partners in recent times. He also affirmed that the visit holds practical significance, contributing to the consolidation of friendly relations and the enhancement of mutual trust between the two sides. This is in line with the development orientation of the Vietnam-Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

Commander Alicia Harrison expressed her gratitude for the solemn reception provided by the city leadership. She stated that the visit is not only diplomatically significant but also contributes to strengthening exchanges, understanding, and building trust between the naval forces of the two countries. The Commander expressed that the Australian Navy wishes to continue expanding cooperation with Vietnam and Da Nang, focusing on professional exchanges, cultural interactions, and sharing experiences in areas of mutual interest.

Expanding the scope of cooperation with the Public Interest Foundation, International Labor Management Foundation (Japan)

Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Trần Anh Tuấn and leaders of the Department of Home Affairs held a reception and working session with the Public Interest Foundation, International Labor Management Foundation (IPM Foundation, Japan) on March 31 to discuss the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding for cooperation in 2026.

During 2025 and the first quarter of 2026, through two enterprises providing services to send workers abroad under contract, the IPM Foundation received 40 workers from Da Nang city and supported their transfer to two employers in Japan.

Regarding cooperation in education, the IPM Foundation, the Department of Education and Training, and the People's Committee of Trà Vân Commune are continuing to coordinate the survey and installation of solar power systems according to the plan within the framework of the signed content.

In the coming time, the Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee requested the Chairman of the IPM Foundation to assign its subordinate foundations to review and coordinate with the departments and branches of Da Nang city to effectively implement the cooperation contents. Da Nang City is committed to coordinating with the IPM Foundation to implement these contents with the highest sense of responsibility, employing effective methods of implementation in the future.
Mr. Ikeda Hideto – Chairman of the IPM Foundation hopes to receive comments and proposals from Da Nang city and the Department of Home Affairs in the near future to find more suitable directions for sending workers to work in Japan. The IPM Foundation also committed to creating a safe and favorable working environment for Vietnamese workers. Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force Destroyer Asahi pays a friendly visit to Da Nang Port

The Destroyer Asahi of the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force, led by Captain Jio Takemasa – Commander of Escort Division 2 – along with approximately 220 officers and sailors, is paying a friendly visit to Da Nang city from April 2 to 5.

At Tien Sa Port, a formal welcoming ceremony took place with the participation of representatives from central and local agencies, such as the Naval Region 3 Command, the Department of Foreign Affairs, and related units. The visit is a meaningful defense diplomacy activity, contributing to the consolidation of the Vietnam – Japan Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

Within the framework of the visit, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Tran Chi Cuong held a courtesy reception for the delegation to strengthen cooperative relations and exchanges between the two sides.

During the reception, the Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee emphasized the important role in enhancing mutual understanding and trust between the naval forces of the two countries. At the same time, he affirmed that Da Nang is always ready to act as a bridge to promote cooperation between the Vietnam People's Navy and the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force, especially in the fields of training, professional exchange, and experience sharing.

The delegation from the Ministry of Defense of the Lao People's Army visits the City Military Command

The working delegation of the Ministry of National Defense of the Lao People's Army (LPA), led by Senior General Say Chay Kommasith, Deputy Minister of National Defense and Chief of the General Staff of the Lao People's Army, visited the City Military Command on the afternoon of April 3.

Colonel Trần Hữu Ích, Commander of the City Military Command, emphasized that the armed forces of Danang city have always maintained a strong and effective fraternal relationship with the Military Commands of Sekong and Salavan provinces of Laos.

Senior General Say Chay Kommasith highly appreciated the sentiments, attention, and practical support that the City Military Command has provided to the Lao army and people in recent times.

Promoting connectivity, expanding cooperation opportunities along the East–West economic corridor

On April 3-4 in Pakse city, Champasak province (Lao PDR), the People's Committee of Danang city, the Consulate General of Vietnam in Pakse, and the People's Committee of Champasak province jointly organized the EWEC 2026 Investment, Trade, and Tourism Cooperation Forum, aiming to promote connectivity of the East-West Economic Corridor and strengthen Vietnam–Laos cooperative relations.

The forum is an important economic diplomatic event, highlighted by the announcement and signing of more than 20 memorandums of understanding on cooperation between Danang, other localities in Vietnam, and localities and business associations in Laos, outlining the implementation orientation for the 2026–2030 period.

Special Features of the Avalokiteśvara Festival, Ngu Hanh Son, Da Nang City 2026

The Avalokiteśvara Festival, Ngu Hanh Son, Da Nang City 2026 will take place from April 4 to 07, 2026 (corresponding to the 17th to 20th day of the 2nd lunar month) with many unique cultural, artistic, religious, and community belief activities, promising to bring attractive experiences to Buddhists, citizens, and domestic and international tourists.

The opening ceremony will take place at 5:30 PM on April 4. The Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva Commemoration Ceremony – the main ritual of the festival – will be held at 7:00 AM on April 6. 

Traditional rituals such as offering incense to commemorate Princess Huyen Tran and the spring sacrifice ceremony to pray for national peace and prosperity continue to be maintained, contributing to the preservation of historical and cultural values.

In this year's event, the festival portion is organized with many rich activities: The "Light of Compassion" art program at 7:00 PM on April 4; The art program of Avalokiteśvara Pagoda, the Association of Buddhist Artists, and international Buddhist art troupes will take place at 8:00 PM on April 5; The "Avalokiteśvara Melodies" art program by the City Union of Literature and Arts Associations will take place at 7:00 PM on April 6.

Along with that are artistic activities such as Bai Choi exchanges, Central Region (Region 5) folk songs, bamboo dancing, and folk games; exhibition spaces for photography, fine arts, and calligraphy; traditional sports activities such as a boat racing festival reenacting the scene of welcoming Princess Huyen Tran, village chess, stilt walking… 
Along with that, the parade of celebratory flower cars on the city's main routes is also a highlight of this year's festival.

In addition, a walking program for peace with the participation of more than 600 delegates representing agencies, organizations, businesses, diplomatic missions, and the foreign community in Da Nang will also be organized, contributing to spreading the message of peace, friendship, and international cooperation. 

With careful preparation and rich content, the 2026 Ngu Hanh Son Avalokiteśvara Festival promises to continue to be a unique cultural and tourism highlight of Da Nang, contributing to spreading humanitarian values and promoting the image of a dynamic, friendly city to domestic and international friends.
